		<title>Research Grants to the departement</title>
		<description>Philippe Martin and Thierry Mayer received a research grant from the International Growth Centre (London School of Economics/Oxford University) to conduct research on trade and the financial crisis with a focus on developing countries. Another research grant was given to Clément Malgouyres, Thierry Mayer, Florian Mayneris and Etienne Wasmer by the DARES (Direction de l'Animation de la Recherche des Etudes et des Statistique) to evaluate the effects of targeted public policies on certain territories (zones franches urbaines, zones urbaines sensible).</description>

		<title>Nicolas Petrosky-Nadeau goes to Carnegie Mellon</title>
		<description>On July 10, Nicolas Petrosky-Nadeau has successfully defended his PhD thesis "Essays on the macroeconomics of financial imperfections" under the co-supervision of Etienne Wasmer (Sciences Po) and Steve Ambler and Alain Delacroix (UQAM). He will take an assistant professor position in September 2009 at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon. Congratulations to him.</description>

		<title>Emeric Henry: ANR junior chair of excellence</title>
		<description>Emeric Henry, assistant professor at the London Business School and who will join the department at Sciences Po in September 2009, has received a large grant from the ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche). In the words of the ANR, this type of grant is for young researchers who have already a strong international reputation by their publication record. The objective of the « Chair of Excellence » programme is to attract researchers based outside France.</description>

		<title>Yann Algan:European Research Council fellowship</title>
		<description>Yann Algan, professor of economics at Sciences Po, has received important funding for his project "Culture, Cooperation and Economics (TRUST) » by the European Research Council (ERC). This project evaluates the impact of norms of cooperation on economic behavior based on a study of attitudes on the web, in association with the medialab at Sciences Po. 

The European Research Council (ERC) is the first European funding body set up to support investigator-driven frontier research. Its main aim is to "stimulate scientific excellence by supporting and encouraging the very best, truly creative scientists, scholars and engineers to be adventurous and take risks in their research. The scientists are encouraged to go beyond established frontiers of knowledge and the boundaries of disciplines."

		<title>Yann Algan: 2009 prize for best young French economist</title>
		<description>Yann Algan, professor of economics at Sciences Po, has been awarded the 2009 prize for best young French economist.

For ten years, Le Monde, in partnership with Le Cercle des Economistes, distinguishes a young researcher under the age of forty, for its promising scientific contribution to economics as well as to the public debate.

Philippe Martin, Thierry Mayer and Etienne Wasmer who are professors of economics at Sciences Po also received this prize in the past.

Yann Algan along with Thomas Philippon (NYU),  is the winner of the tenth edition of the prize.</description>
